Established over 12 years ago by Paul Anderson as Glovebox, our gym has been a hub for boxing enthusiasts of all levels.
In 2024, experienced coach Alan Smith and David Letts took the reins and rebranded as Four Corners Boxing, continuing the tradition of providing top-quality training and producing exceptional amateur fighters in a welcoming, community-focused environment.
Known as the best place to learn how to box and become a fighter in the Northern Beaches, Sydney – right here in Warriewood – we are proud to help beginners, amateurs, and future champions reach their full potential.
The story of Four Corners Boxing
Alan Smith
Alan began boxing in 1976 as an 11-year-old and went on to compete at every level—schoolboy, youth, and senior. He became a Boys Clubs of Wales Champion and proudly represented his country throughout his amateur career.
During his time in the Armed Forces, Alan boxed for the Royal Regiment of Wales and was part of a team that won back-to-back Army Major Units Boxing titles. Individually, he claimed a bantamweight title and competed in over 100 contests, winning more than 70.
Alan’s coaching journey also began during his military service, where he helped lead the team to a UK Major Units Championship title. After leaving the forces, he established his own gym, producing several Welsh champions. One of his proudest coaching moments was guiding Andrew Robinson, who represented Wales at the 1994 Commonwealth Games.
Alan has had the honour of coaching the national team on two occasions, travelling with the squad to both Scotland and Ireland.
Boxing is a sport like no other—it builds character, strength, respect, and accountability. At Four Corners Boxing, Alan’s mission is to continue instilling these values in everyone who walks through the doors.
Mia Uren
Mia Uren has been involved in boxing for over 10 years, starting in Sydney CBD before moving to the Northern Beaches. She’s had 3 fights, finishing undefeated, before stepping away from the sport to have her daughter. Returning with a fresh perspective, she now coaches at Four Corners Boxing under head coach Alan.
Boxing runs in Mia’s family; she is the great granddaughter of Australian professional boxer Tommy Uren. Her love and respect for the sport runs through her veins.
For Mia, boxing instilled confidence, a sense of direction, and a love of pushing limits. She’s passionate about helping others feel comfortable, learn properly, and actually enjoy training. Her coaching style focuses on making you feel comfortable and empowered, while also pushing you to dig deeper, work harder, and get the most out of every session.
